Week Six Prompt: Promoting Horror Fiction

Dear Fearless Leader,
As I'm sure you are well aware, I am something a Halloween fanatic and, though it is only February, I wanted to get a head-start on brainstorming ideas for promoting our horror fiction for the upcoming Halloween season. Yes, I know--I am a go-getter and generally awesome. The idea that is standing out for me right now is that I would like to set a display of horror films in DVDs. The display, of course, would consist of horror films for patrons to check out, but on the front of each DVD case, I would like to attach a short list of book title recommendations based on similarities to the particular film. Essentially, when the patron chooses the horror film they would like to see, they also get recommendations for books they are likely to enjoy.
In addition to the film-book match-up idea, I was thinking of placing shelf markers on the shelves, designating recommended horror books. The shelf markers could contain a brief plot synopsis as well as rankings denoting violence levels, blood and gore, etc., allowing patrons to find horror stories that align with their comfort level. Each category could be rated on a scale of one to five skulls.
If this sounds at all interesting to you, let me know. I need to get this fleshed out a bit more, but I'm sure we can come up with some awesome Halloween/horror promotions.
Thanks.
Doug

I love the way you paired book recs with horror movies. That integrated advisory done right! Great idea and full points!
